SIKAP
SIKAP (or Kursus Pemulihan Sikap untuk Keluarga Miskin) was a social help motivational programme which helped to change the mindset of Indians below poverty line. It was conducted in 21 areas all over the country. The programme was especially targeted at single mothers so that they would be able to participate effectively in the micro credit programme which was to be subsequently introduced to them.
Through this programme more than 5,000 people were taught and trained in basic commercial skills and the ways and means to start small business operations, be it in the field of cooking, sewing or other kinds of small-scale retailing business.
There are many testimonials of women who have successfully pulled themselves out of dire situations and are now able to make a living.
